I have been writing since I was 13 years old. None of my stories have been published as of yet, but I have not given up. I hope to find greater success now that I am retired and can focus solely on that goal.

I am an avid reader of most genres and I have a library of over 20K books to prove it. Still, I grew annoyed with how the female characters were so often portrayed as weak and always needing to be rescued. I wanted to create a main character who not only was as strong and capable as a man, but accepted as such without question.

​

Although, life kept me busy, I managed to write a number of short stories and three manuscripts. A thriller and a Science Fiction/Fantasy (SciFy) story is ready now. I also have a very rough 1st draft for a romance which was the first story I completed.

 

I am working on a sequel to the SciFy story and another thriller. With another Scify story waiting in the wings.

 

I've included links on the Works page of this website to the first chapter excerpts from the two manuscripts that are ready for publishing. I also have provided an excerpt of the SciFy sequel that I am in the process of writing.

 

I added links to some of my short stories on the Short Stories page of this website. More will come. I am a big fan of Star Trek and wrote a few short stories for the Original Star Trek characters while I was in college. Because of copyrights, I did not put those up on this site.  My favorite short story is actually more of a novelette, called My Friend, the Elevator. I only put up an excerpt from that story as I am considering revising it and expanding it into a novel.

 

I began writing as Vicki E Slaughter. When I married my sweet and loving husband John Kelly Biggs 28 years ago, I started writing as Vicki E S Biggs.

Those of my short stories that I wrote as Vicki E Slaughter remain under that name. My manuscripts and more recent short stories are under Vicki E S Biggs.

I am a retired Computer Analyst. I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks and went to Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. I have a BS in Mathematics with an emphasis in computers and a Minor in Writing. My college was renamed to Missouri State University (MSU) in August 2005.

 

Jobs like I wanted didn't exist in Missouri over 40 years ago. So, I left the area after getting a job with Computer Sciences Corp and remained basically employed by them until I retired. I lived in Virginia and worked around the Washington DC Metro area for almost 39 years.  During my long career in Quality Assurance, I worked as a software developer, tester, and Configuration Manager contractor for various Federal Agencies and was responsible for many technical documents for those customers.
